Soccer Game

Today I took the grade 6-8's to Sherwood Heights Academy for an exhibition soccer game, although we had to play in the gym due to the rainy weather we still had a blast! Despite playing against a team with a couple more grade 8s on their roster we managed to score three goals and kept the game close. Thanks to Sherwood Heights for hosting us.

Soccer Unit

Since we will be playing exhibition soccer games against other private schools in the area there is no better time to start the soccer unit for grades 1-8. If students want to bring their soccer cleats monday and wedesday, weather permitting we might go to the local park for a little more space. Here is a link to all the rules and scenarios of soccer http://www.soccer-training-guide.com/soccer-rules.html if you want to read it over it to familiarize yourself with "the beautiful game". I will be explaining the rules in class as well.

First Gym Class of the Year

The first day of phys ed at St. Jude's was a lot of fun. All the students seemed to enjoy themselves and you could  tell they are excited for the upcoming year. For the younger students we will continue to work on coordination and locomotor skills, we will start the soccer unit for the older students. I have been talking to other schools about playing a couple exhibition soccer games so the class time will be a great opportunity to develop their skills.
