Congrats to all the players on a great result!

Crossfit
In keeping in tradition of having short high intensity workouts I have adaptaed a few crossfit workouts for the students. Today's workout called for a series of "thrusters", a squat into an overhead shoulder press. We used a chair instead of weights, although it was light, it was a decent alternative.

Second place at the SSAF bonspiel!
On Friday the St. Jude's curling team traveled to the Richmond Hill curling club to participate in the SSAF annual curling bonspiel. We started off strong with a victory over TMS, spirits were very high. Unfortunately we faced a strong second TMS team in the second match who made a few great shots. With our record at 1-1 we knew if we could maximize our points in the third we would have a shot at the runner up position. St. Jude's delivered and curled four winning ends to give us a high enough total to place second overall!! We also had the two highest scores for any match in the entire tournament.

As we continue our Olympic unit for the grade two class adapting as many winter Olympic sports as we can to work in the gym, we gave the luge a try today. I set up a course and the students had to push a teammate on the scooter around the course. Fun times, cooperation, and sportsmanship had all.

Circulation volleyball
In order accommodate the game of volleyball for the younger classes I introduced a Volleyball Canada game of circulation volleyball. It teaches students the fundamentals of the sport including communication, movement, offense and defence. The court is much smaller and teams are composed of 4 students instead of 6 so everyone is more involved. There are different levels of difficultly so it be adapted to many age levels.

Name tags
Parents!! Please put name tags or write your child's name in permanent market on the tags of the uniform. Especially gym uniform items, when we have these unseasonally warm days, students all want to take off their gym sweater but I will not let them if they don't have their name on the tag.
